| A fresh copy of iPod software is known as "factory settings". When you first buy a new iPod, it comes with default or factory settings. It makes your iPod easy to operate and customize and is free from any problems. You then set it up, download and install iTunes and download songs to enjoy listening to your favorite music. However, when later on some problems start cropping up or you want to use your iPod on multiple PCs or Macs, you'll need to restore you iPod to its factory settings. But just keep in mind that restoring your iPod will delete all your files, music and video collections, uploaded games, pictures etc. But only those files will get deleted that are on iPod but not on iTunes.
